 SUN CITY:  Del E. Webb Development Company
 started on 1959 building the concept of Sun City. This new
 community was the first of its kind; offering a community completely
 focused on an active adult retirement community. Beginning with a
 shopping center, recreation center and a golf course, the innovative
 vision came to life with many master-planned communities soon to
 move in. Soon Sun City was nationally acclaimed and homes were
 selling quickly. Theatres, more recreation centers, dining, shopping
 and clubs covering a variety of interests eventually came to fruition,
 giving Sun City the reputation for not only great weather, but
 non-stop socializing and fun.

 This reputation continues. The yearning to live in one area where
 you can live, work and play without needing to leave the city limits
 has drawn many newcomers through the years. You will never find
 yourself saying, “There’s nothing to do!”  Theatre Works and Arizona
 Broadway Theatre bring award-winning productions to town covering
 drama, comedy, musicals and more. Music lovers will find a six
 concert series through Chamber Music West, in addition to the
 well-known West Valley Symphony. Local Rio Salado College holds
 the Senior Education, which offers over 40 classes covering
 everything from cooking to history.

 Active is putting it lightly here in Sun City. Seven recreation centers
 such as Bell Center and Lakeview Center provide an ongoing
 calendar full of events and activities.There are 11 golf courses to
 date, two bowling alleys, shuffleboard, softball leagues, community
 swimming pools, boating, fishing and more.

 There is a wide range of housing options available such as single-
 family homes, independent living centers, duplexes, assisted living
 centers, and condos.
